When a one-run Diamond Dynasty game also needs to move a postseason mission, poor lineup planning costs more than a loss: it can leave you with an unfinished objective and no collection progress to show for the innings. I approach the MLB The Show 26 Postseason Collection as a card-count route, not a pack chase; players considering MLB 26 stubs should still check the eligible-item list before spending, since a themed card is not automatically a qualifying one. The finish line is 38 eligible items and 99 OVR Freddy Peralta, so every roster choice should either secure a required card or advance a mission that grants one.
Turn the thresholds into a route
Treat the three thresholds as checkpoints, not separate rewards to remember later. The first 27 eligible cards come from the earlier Wild Card and Division Series paths, opening Munetaka Murakami. Claim Murakami, then add him to the collection; earning the card alone may not update the item total until you complete that collection action. The next target is 32, which unlocks Jake Bauers after the four eligible cards in the Dodgers vs. Brewers program. Collect Bauers before moving on. That deliberate pause prevents a common tracking error: counting a milestone reward before it appears in the collection.
Check the card count before replaying
After Bauers is recorded, the Guardians vs. Rays program supplies the final five cards for 38. The route is easy to audit: 27 from the opening programs, Murakami as card 28, four Dodgers vs. Brewers items to reach 32, Bauers as 33, then five Guardians vs. Rays items. This path uses program rewards rather than pack luck, but it does require completing all ten relevant Wild Card, Division Series, and Championship Series programs. If you already have a partial collection, subtract eligible cards you own before replaying anything and verify the exact versions listed on the collection screen.
Make each game advance more than one mission
Treat each game as a chance to progress on multiple requirements. In Guardians vs. Rays, use Guardians and/or Rays players for the 2,026 PXP objective while keeping 2026 Postseason cards in the lineup for the separate 2,026 PXP mission. When eligible players overlap, the same plate appearances build both totals. Track mission coverage before first pitch and check your remaining PXP afterward instead of judging progress by games played. The strikeout objective can lag against contact-heavy lineups, while the Rays innings target is less efficient if games end quickly or you replace starters early. Check mode eligibility before committing to a full game.
Judge Peralta against your rotation
The reward is easiest to judge against your actual rotation, not its overall rating alone. Peralta's five-pitch mix-four-seam fastball, circle change, 12-6 curve, sweeper, and slider-pairs with 110 stamina, 125 pitching clutch, 99 control, and 99 break. That profile points to innings capacity and late-game reliability, but it does not guarantee success against patient hitters who wait out predictable sequencing; vary speed and location, then compare his control and break with your current starters. For a roster short on right-handed options, finishing the collection can add matchup flexibility. If a missing card tempts you to check MLB The Show 26 stubs or buy cheap MLB 26 stubs, confirm eligibility first; the collection screen, not the card art, decides whether it advances your progress toward Freddy.
